Good Tidings Podcast S7E46: Duane Kuiper

Posted on January 26, 2026

Welcome to the Good Tidings Podcast with host, Larry Harper, Founder of the Good Tidings Foundation. This podcast is all about highlighting the good in people and what individuals are doing to make an impact in this world. On today’s episode, Larry chats with his longtime friend, San Francisco Giants Legendary Broadcaster and 13-time Emmy Winner Duane Kuiper.

The conversation begins with Duane explaining what it was like growing up in Wisconsin on a dairy farm and dreaming of someday becoming a big leaguer. He goes onto to talk about what a blessing it was to get traded from the Cleveland Indians to the San Francisco Giants and the funny story on how he tried to block the trade. Duane reminds us of how he went from a player to a broadcaster in a single weekend. Larry shares with the audience that there have only been a handful of play-by-play broadcasters that were former players. Duane shares that he has been nominated to go into Baseball’s Hall Fame as a broadcaster five times (a recognition that is long overdue). They finish up the conversation on the many ways Duane has engaged with programs that benefit the community in his four plus decade career with the Giants.
