Posted on June 14, 2023

Welcome to the Good Tidings Podcast with host, Larry Harper, Founder of the Good Tidings Foundation. This podcast is all about highlighting the good in people and what individuals are doing to make an impact in this world all for the benefit of others, while aiming to inspire a community of givers! On today’s episode, Larry interviews Humanitarian and Dodgers and Padres Legend – Steve Garvey.

The conversation begins with Steve reminiscing on his impressive baseball career where he holds some records that will likely never be broken. From day one as a youngster, he was destined to be a Dodger. Steve took great pride to show up and play every day which yielded the longest consecutive game streak in National League History. His most proud accomplishment was beating the New York Yankees to win the World Series.

Steve now spends all his time helping numerous charities through his role as the Los Angeles Dodgers Community Ambassador. His causes include: Chairman of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, MLB Spokesperson for the Annual Lou Gehrig Day, Chairman for Fans for a Cure to bring awareness for Prostate Cancer screening, etc.  He has also spoken in front of Congress numerous times to help bring change to many of these causes.

Last month, Steve joined Larry and the Good Tidings Foundation for the dedication ceremony of their latest LeRoy Neiman Art Studio at the Bresee Youth Center in Los Angeles. Steve shared with Larry his friendship with the artist who was also a founding partner of the Good Tidings Foundation. This new art studio will provide free art classes to hundreds of children each year. Larry even shares the story to the future Hall of Famer about owning his first LeRoy Neiman print – that of one Steve Garvey!
